DETROIT -- Jaguar says it's marking the start of a new era with the I-Pace, a five-seat, all-electric crossover concept revealed this week in Los Angeles.
Though still a concept, Jaguar said the I-Pace is a preview of a production car the automaker plans to put on the roads in 2018. It's a sports car, performance car, family car and SUV all rolled into one, the company says.
It has an all-electric range of about 500 kilometers (about 311 miles) on the New European Driving Cycle scale. The Jaguar I-Pace can be charged 100 percent in a little more than two hours' time with 50kW DC charging.
The all-wheel drive concept's electric motors deliver about 400 horsepower and 516 lb.-ft. of torque. The crossover speeds from 0 to 60 miles per hour in about four seconds, Jaguar says.
"The I-Pace concept is the smartest five-seater sports car and the start of a new era for Jaguar," the company says. "It's as daringly designed and innovative as the cars that put Jaguar on the map, with technology that enhances our customers' lives."
