The two new sedans to the Sonic family, the Sonic RS and the Sonic Dusk, may actually sound familiar to some consumers. Chevrolet already offers the Sonic RS as a hatchback and the Sonic Dusk was shown as a concept in 2011. In October 2012, GM said it would make the Dusk into a production vehicle.
LOS ANGELES, CA- General Motors Co. will debut two new Chevrolet Sonic sedans in addition to its highly-anticipated Chevy Colorado at the 2013 LA Auto Show, officials announced today.
“Chevrolet has one of the freshest portfolios in the industry which enhances our ability to attract new customers in our showrooms, particularly for our new products,” said Chris Perry, vice president of Chevrolet Marketing, in a statement. “This year we established a solid foundation for the brand and we will continue to build on that momentum into 2014.”
GM did not release any other information on the new Sonic vehicles, but the current RS hatchback starts at about $21,000 equipped with a six-speed manual transmission and Ecotec 1.4L turbo engine rated at 138 horsepower (103 kW) and 148 lb.-ft. (200 Nm) of torque.
The 2013 LA Auto Show and debut of the 2015 Chevy Colorado caps off a busy year for Chevrolet, which last year announced it would introduce 13 new or significantly redesigned models this year.
Other Chevrolet vehicles making their first appearance at the LA Auto Show include the 2014 Corvette Stingray coupe and convertible, SS Performance Sedan, the fuel-efficient Cruze Clean Turbo Diesel, the track-focused Camaro Z28 and the all-new Chevrolet Silverado.
Automakers are expected to nearly 60 vehicles, including 22 world debuts, during the 2013 LA Auto Show Press Days on Wednesday and Thursday. The LA Auto Show, which is considered the start of the “auto show season” for automakers, is open to the public from Nov. 22-Dec. 1.
