LOS ANGELES, CA- Kia, an automaker known for small cars and dancing hamsters, is now setting its sights on the luxury market.

The South Korean automaker plans to unveil a new "flagship" rear wheel drive sedan next week at the 2013 LA Auto Show called the K900, which is scheduled to go on sale next year and be available with either a V6 or V8 engine.

Kia recently released a side shot of the vehicle, saying the K900 will “take value to new levels of sophistication.”

The K900 is reportedly an “Americanized version” of the Kia K9/Quoris that's been on sale overseas for nearly two years.

In the U.S., the rear-wheel-drive luxury sedan segment in the U.S. is quite competitive, with heavy-hitters from Cadillac, BMW, Jaguar and Lexus and Audi.

The K900 is expected to be one of 56 vehicle debuts, including 22 world debuts, during the 2013 LA Auto Show Press Days from Nov. 20-21. The LA Auto Show, which is considered the start of the “auto show season” for automakers, is open to the public from Nov. 22 – Dec. 1.
