DETROIT, MI- The head of Chrysler Group LLC’s namesake brand is leaving to lead marketing at luxury automaker Maserati, company officials announced today.
Saad Chehab, who served as president and CEO of the Chrysler Brand, was named chief marketing officer of Maserati SpA, which is also owned by Chrysler’s parent company, Fiat SpA.
Chehab, 46, is credited for overseeing the brand’s highly-published“Imported From Detroit” marketing campaign, which started with a 2011 Super Bowl commercial featuring rapper Eminem.
Al Gardner, who was most recently director of Chrysler’s Southeast Business Center, will replace Chehab. He joined the company in 1986.
Additionally, Steve Beahm is named Senior Vice President of Supply Chain Management, effective Jan. 1, 2014, filling and completing a previously announced personnel move. Prior to this position, Beahm served as vice president – U.S. Sales Operations. He joined Chrysler in 1987.
Also, along with his current responsibilities as president and CEO of Dodge brand, Tim Kuniskis assumes responsibility for the company’s fleet operations as Pete Grady was named president and CEO of Maserati North America Inc.
“All of these appointments represent important recognition of the positive contribution that each individual has brought to the organization,” said Sergio Marchionne, Chrysler chairman and CEO, in a statement. “We continue to value the talent within our walls, as we grow strong leaders and provide opportunities for top performers.”
In related moves, Robert Graczyk is appointed head of sales - Australia for all Fiat and Chrysler brands, effective immediately. Graczyk previously served as president and CEO of Maserati North America. He joined Chrysler in 1986. Jeffrey Kommor is appointed vice president of U.S. Sales Operations, effective January 1, 2014. Previously, Kommor served as director of the company’s Northeast Business Center. He joined the company in 1985.
