DETROIT- General Motors Co. Tuesday announced it will move about 70 positions from its Treasury Office in New York City to its global headquarters in Detroit in mid-2014.
“GM Treasury plays a critical role in the success of our company and locating the team in Detroit will fully integrate them into our core business operations,” said Dan Ammann, senior vice president and CFO, in a statement.
Dave Roman, a GM spokesman, said if current employees decide not to move to Detroit, GM would hire new people.

Roman said it is not uncommon for large corporations to have their Treasury Office located at their headquarters.
About 150 employees, including the GM Asset Management team and other support staffs, will remain in GM’s New York office, which will move in June to a new office location in Midtown Manhattan.
