"Those people have to be obsessed. Every nut, bolt and screw is chromed."
DETROIT, MI -- The Michigan Hot Rod Association will present its 50th annual Ridler Award to one of eight finalists at the nation's premier custom car show in Detroit on Sunday.
Hundreds of cars were on display during Autorama at the Cobo Center this weekend with blinding shine and jaw-dropping creative design.

Custom car experts have chosen the top eight and will reveal a winner Sunday evening.
"They’re all gorgeous," said Fred Mays, 57, who admired the Ridler finalists Saturday with a group of six friends who drove to Detroit from Millington for the show.
"It’s more than a hobby. Those people have to be obsessed. Every nut, bolt and screw is chromed... You know if somebody’s won that, they’ve don’t their ultimate job... It’s not just a little car that you shine up. It's almost beyond comprehension. I didn’t see any ugly ones. None I wouldn’t drive home in."
