It's hard to call driving the 2017 Honda Ridgeline pickup truck work, but that's exactly what I did for one solid week in mid-February.

The 2017 Honda Ridgeline AWD RTL-E: The model I gleefully drove for a week came with the standard 3.5-liter, V6 engine and 6-speed automatic transmission. The Ridgeline got a decent 25 mpg on the highway, and 18 mpg city.

The 2017 version came with 30 more horsepower and an added 15-pounds of torque.

The back seat could not only comfortably fit the kids, but two normal-sized adults with its impressive legroom and surprisingly cozy seats.

Some safety features include multi-view safety and parking cameras, brake assist, and lane detection alerts which could be easily turned on or off.

What I liked: Not only was the Ridgeline insanely comfortable and spacious, it was one smooth ride that had extremely user-friendly features.

The 8-inch digital dashboard was easy to use and to connect to, and the autonomous safety features found the perfect spot between full-on Skynet takeover and co-pilot.

The steering wheel-mounted controls and display screens were perfectly done, in my opinion, allowing drivers to change and check features without being distracted.

Some of the weirder features turned out to be practical ones, like the dual opening tailgate, built-in truck bed cooler complete with a drain system and the built-in truck bed speakers.

The Honda Ridgeline manages to be a practical everyday vehicle, classic pickup and a camper's dream truck, all in one.

This is one heck of an all-around vehicle that I had a hard time giving back.

What I didn't like: It feels like nitpicking, but the 2017 Ridgeline was extremely dimly light on the interior once the sun went down. With all that technology and innovation going on, it's hard to imagine that a couple extra LED lights is too much to ask for.

Price as tested: $42,270

MSRP: $29,475
