With its Mopar brand celebrating its 80th anniversary in 2017, Dodge unveiled a limited edition 2017 Mopar Challenger Friday, Feb. 10 at the Chicago Auto Show.

The special edition Challenger comes with a six-speed manual transmission, 6.4-liter HEMI engine that churns out 485 horsepower and 475-pounds of torque, Fiat Chrysler reports in a news release.

Each model will come hand-painted, but there will only be 80 available in each pitch black/contusion blue, and pitch black/billet silver. The limited edition release will also come with Mopar performance parts, accessories, and an exclusive owner's kit and serialized commemorative badge.

The Mopar 2017 Challenger is expected to arrive in dealerships sometime in 2017's second quarter, according to the release.

"Since its birth in 1937, Mopar has evolved from the name of an antifreeze product to a global customer-care brand," Pietro Gorlier, Head of Parts and Service FCA Global, said in the release. "The Mopar '17 Dodge Challenger, our latest limited-edition vehicle, is a testament to this philosophy, showcasing how Mopar assists owners in personalizing all FCA US vehicles."

The new Mopar Dodge Challenger comes with Brembo four-piston brakes, and draws cold air intake influences from the Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat. The cold air intake works with an air catcher duct system through the headlamp, FCA reports.

Each of the potential 160 customers will receive a welcome letter, vehicle birth certificate, signed Mopar rendering, special booklet and other commemorative items. The car will be available in the U.S. and Canada, and will start with an MSRP of $55,790.

The 2017 Mopar Challenger is now the eighth limited-edition Mopar-modified vehicle, according to FCA.

Chrysler introduced the world to its Mopar brand on Aug. 1, 1937, and is now celebrating 80 years as 2017 kicks in. Mopar was first introduced as a line of antifreeze, with the name derived from the words "motor" and "parts." Since then, the brand has grown into Fiat Chrysler's service, parts and customer care for its owners.

The antifreeze brand made a big jump with the 1960s, as it gained recognition in the muscle-car era. The phrase "Mopar" cars was thrown around for vehicles that cemented "a legacy on the streets and at the dragstrip."

In the past decade, the company has grown into the customer, service and parts-care brand for all owners of FCA vehicles, and added more than 1,750 oil change service stops.
