DETROIT, MI- Hyundai will debut a new concept luxury vehicle at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit next week.

The vehicle, called the HCD-14, will give the “automotive world a glimpse into future Hyundai premium vehicle design, advanced 3-D gesture-based technology controls, and spirited driving dynamics,” according to the South Korean automaker.

The HCD-14 concept will be revealed at 3 p.m. Jan. 14 during the first of two press preview days at the show, which is open to the public starting Jan. 19.

The vehicle, which the automaker also released a teaser photo of Monday (see above photo gallery), will be at least its second to recently debut at an auto show. In November, Hyundai unveiled a Veloster C3 Roll Top concept before literally “rocking out” its larger Santa Fe at the LA Auto Show.

The C3, which stands for convertible 3-door, offered a distinctive canvas roof that opens to the rear or windshield of the vehicle. Hyundai said drivers can roll the top forward, open the tailgate, fold the rear seats and the C3 goes into recreation mode - perfect for surfing, biking or kayaking.

HCD-14 is one  of more than 50 vehicles expected to make their world or North American debut at the 2013 NAIAS.

The 2013 NAIAS is open to the public from Jan. 19-27. More than 50 unveilings from the world’s top automakers are expected during the show’s press preview days Jan. 14 and 15, followed by industry days Jan. 16 and 17. The charity preview, which raised $3 million last year, is Jan. 18.
