The new store will be large by West Michigan used car dealer standards with an inventory of about 200 used vehicles.

KENTWOOD, MI - CarMax, the nation's largest chain of used car dealerships, is hiring more than 40 employees as it prepares for a November opening of its first store in Michigan, according the Richmond, Va.-based company.

The new store, located behind an Art Van Furniture store at 4431 28th Street SE, will be large by West Michigan used car dealer standards with an inventory of about 200 used vehicles, according to the company.

CarMax, best known for it's "no-haggling" sales approach, claims to be the nation's largest retailer of used cars and operates more than 160 stores in 37 states nationwide. The Kentwood store will be its first in Michigan.

Available positions include sales, business office, and service operations positions including inventory, service advisors and technicians, according to the company's website, which notes CarMax has been named one of Fortune magazine's "100 Best Companies to Work For" the past 12 years.

Job applications are only accepted online, according to CarMax. Job seekers should apply at http://jobs.carmax.com.

The 20-acre site on which CarMax is building was proposed for a Menard's home improvement store about six years ago. Those plans fell through after the developer was unable to resolve the entrance requirements with the Michigan Department of Transportation.
