DETROIT - Chevrolet is adding the Midnight Edition package to its full-size Suburban and Tahoe SUVs, the General Motors brand said Monday.
The blacked-out Midnight Edition option is currently available on the Silverado, Colorado, Equinox and Trax models.
Midnight Edition comes in two variants: Z71 and LT.
The Z71 Midnight package adds 18-inch, black-painted wheels; roof-rack cross rails; a black grille insert and black Chevy logos to existing Z71 options such as off-road suspension, off-road tires, skid plates, fog lamps, tow hooks and other rugged features.
The LT Midnight package adds 20-inch, black wheels; all-season tires; roof-rack cross rails; black assist steps and black Chevy logos.
The Midnight Edition Tahoe and Suburban will go on sale near the end of this year.
Chevy said the Tahoe and Suburban now represent about half of all full-size SUV sales in the U.S.
Through August of this year, total sales of the Tahoe are up 2 percent on an annual basis to 59,949 units, and sales of the Suburban have increased 5 percent to 33,707 units.
