DETROIT, MI- The 2013 North American International Auto Show next month in Detroit is expected to be one of the largest in recent years.
More than 50 worldwide and North American unveilings are expected, officials announced Thursday.
"This show is a reflection of the positive changes that are occurring in our industry," said Jim Seavitt, 2013 NAIAS chairman. "Automakers from around the world continue to place NAIAS at the top of their global auto show strategies, and have committed to more than 50 vehicle debuts with the majority being worldwide unveilings."
The majority of those introductions, like in 2012, are expected to be world debuts. The 2012 Detroit auto show featured 42 vehicle introductions, including 38 worldwide debuts -- 12 concept vehicles and 26 production models.
Seavitt said the official NAIAS press conference schedule, which was released today, reads like an automakers 'Who's Who' and features nearly 40 official events to be held during the two press preview days Jan. 14-15.
More than 6,000 journalists from around the globe expected to attend the show next month.

The 2013 North American Car and Truck/Utility of the Year awards are scheduled to be announced Jan. 15. The Detroit Three have four represent two of the three finalists for each of the awards. Ford is the only automaker to have a finalist for both of the awards, which will be given out at the 2013 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
A number of automakers (see embedded slideshow) have already announced some details about what they’ll be showing at the show next month.
More than 770,000 people attended the 2012 NAIAS during its public days, as well as another 40,000 during the events leading up to the public show dates.
If attendance trends continue, the 2013 NAIAS should top those numbers. Also for 2012, media registrations increased by about 15-20 percent and charity preview sales increased double digits as well.
The 2013 NAIAS is open to the public from Jan. 19-27. Industry days are Jan. 16 and 17. The charity preview, which raised $3 million last year, is Jan. 18.
