General Motors has told dealers to stop selling some 60,000 SUVs because the fuel economy listed on window stickers is overstated.
DETROIT, MI - General Motors has told dealers to stop selling some 60,000 SUVs because the fuel economy listed on window stickers is overstated.
Affected vehicles include the 2016 Chevrolet Traverse, GMC Acadia and Buick Enclave SUVs.
GM sent a memo to dealers telling them the fuel economy listed on the window stickers is one to two miles per gallon too high, Automotive News reports.
The label inaccurately showed a fuel economy of 17 miles per gallon city, 24 highway and 19 combined.
The fuel economy for all-wheel-drive models should be 15 city, 22 highway and 17 combined, and for for front-wheel-drive models should be labelled 15 city, 22 highway and 18 combined.
GM said it checked all other vehicle for similar discrepancies but found no issues. The company has printed correct stickers, which are supposed to start arriving at dealerships Saturday.
The automaker said the overstated fuel economy was accidental, and blamed an inadvertent "data transmission" for the issue, Automotive News reported.
