The latest departures brings the total number of vice presidents to have left Tesla this year alone to five.

DETROIT, MI - Two top manufacturing executives are leaving Tesla Motors ahead of its production launch of the Model 3 electric car, Bloomberg reports.

The execs reportedly include Greg Reichow, vice president of production, and Josh Ensign, vice president of manufacturing.

Citing an anonymous source, Bloomberg reports the executive changes are linked to the bumpy roll-out of the Palo Alto, Calif.-based company's Model X electric SUV. Tesla denied the link, and said Reichow, the global head of production, is taking a leave of absence.

The latest departures would the total number of vice presidents to have left Tesla this year alone to five.

Tesla launched the Model X after several delays in September. The crossover has been subject to a recall and was highlighted in an unflattering dispatch from Consumer Reports, which said customers have been complaining about issues with the vehicle's doors, sheet metal panels and windshield.

Last month, Tesla said its lower-than-expected Q1 deliveries were hit by "severe Model X supplier parts shortages in January and February that lasted much longer than initially expected."

Tesla is set to announce its first quarter financial results Wednesday at 5:30 p.m.

The company revealed the Model 3 to great hype at the end of March. With a starting price of $35,000, the Model 3 is meant to be the electric car for the masses that company co-founder and CEO Elon Musk set out to create.

Tesla doesn't expect plan to begin production of the Model 3 until the end of 2017, but it received more than 325,000 of the cars being pre-ordered in the first week of $1,000 advanced reservations going online.
