DETROIT, MI - The Michigan Secretary of State has suspended the license of a Detroit auto dealership where Michigan State Police confiscated multiple stolen vehicles.
Secretary of State Ruth John's office said Thursday it suspended the license of Detroit Scale & Cars at 14301 W. Chicago St. after the dealer was unable to provide records to state investigators for a follow-up inspection.
"We take our responsibility to safeguard consumers from unscrupulous auto dealers seriously," Johnson said in a release. "Most auto dealers are reputable business people who follow the rules, but if we determine a dealer is operating outside the law, we will take action."
Dealers who have their license suspended can request an administrative hearing to potentially gain their license back.
Consumers who have complaints against an auto dealer can call the state's automotive complaint line at 517-335-1410.
