The Deaborn automaker is bringing an all-new, SuperCrew version of the truck to the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
DETROIT, MI - Remember that brawny Ford F-150 Raptor that was revealed a year ago? The one that Ford Motor CO. says is based on the DNA of a Baja race truck?
The Dearborn automaker is bringing an all-new, SuperCrew version of the truck to the 2016 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.
The SuperCrew, with four full-size doors, has a 145-inch wheelbase, which is 12 inches longer than the standard Raptor.
"F-150 Raptor means superior off-road capability, from rock crawling to sand running," Dave Pericak, Ford Performance global director, said in a release ahead of its unveiling. "With the addition of SuperCrew, F-150 Raptor customers can leave the pavement behind - without sacrificing comfort and space."
The F-150 Raptor is powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost engine mated with a 10-speed automatic transmission.
The new F-150 Raptor is built at Ford's Dearborn Truck Plant. It goes on sale in the U.S. and Canada in the fall.
More than 40 new cars and trucks are expected to be unveiled at the 2016 NAIAS. The show runs Jan. 11-24 in Detroit. Press preview days are Jan. 11-12, followed by industry preview Jan. 13-14 and a charity preview on Jan. 15.
The show will be open to the public Jan. 16-24. More than 750 vehicles will be on display, and some 800,000 attendees are expected to pass through the Cobo Center's doors for the event. Tickets to the 2016 public show days are $7 for senior citizens and children between 7-12 years old; $13 for adults; and free for children 6 and under.
