Track for the 2013 Detroit Grand Prix on Belle Isle In a 37-second YouTube video, Castroneves says extending the track from 2.1 to 2.3 miles next year will produce more passing among the cars.
"It's a little longer straightaway so it's going to create a little more excitement, even more excitement then we already had," he said.
Castroneves adds another reason he likes the new track. The last time the Detroit Grand Prix used the 2.3-mile track, back in 2001, he won the race.
The 2013 Detroit Grand Prix is May 31-June 2.
