DETROIT, MI - Muscular front-end designs and signature LED lighting accents are some of what Chevrolet says mark the new Silverado pickup trucks unveiled Thursday at the Texas State Fair in Dallas.

In addition to the new grilles, updates for the 2016 Silverados include an expanded use of 8-speed automatic transmissions, new safety technologies and the capability of their infotainment systems to hook up with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

The new Silverados come in the WT, LS, LT, LTZ, LTZ/Z71 and High Country trim levels.

There are three engine options: A 4.3-liter V-6 with 285 horsepower and 305 lb.-ft. of torque, a 5.3L V-8 with 355 horsepower and 383 lb.-ft. of torque and a 6.2L V-8 with 420 horsepower and 460 lb.-ft. of torque.

Pricing has not yet been released. The new Silverados hit dealerships this fall.

Chevy said Thursday its truck sales are up 33 percent so far this year, and sales of the Silverado pickups are up 17 percent through August.
