Video: Fiat's 'Topless' Romanian model ad from LA Auto Show

The 60-second ad was for the new Fiat 500 Abarth Cabrio (convertible). The ad showed a scorpion (symbol of Abarth) cutting the bikini top off of the Romanian model as the new vehicle drove by, followed by Menghia running into the water and the scorpion dragging the top.

AUBURN HILLS, MI- Following its debut at the 2012 LA Auto Show, Chrysler Group LLC posted its new “Topless” ad featuring Romanian model Catrinel Menghia online.

The 60-second ad is for the new Fiat 500 Cabrio (convertible) Abarth. The ad shows a scorpion (symbol of Abarth) cutting the bikini top off of the Romanian model as the new vehicle drives by, followed by Menghia running into the water and the scorpion dragging the top on the beach.

“Topless” was one of five ads shown during the unveiling of the 500c Abarth, all-electric 500e, 500L and 500L Trekking.

Colorful comments from Olivier Francois, Chrysler and Fiat Group Automobiles chief marketing officer and head of Fiat brand, and the new ads for the brand’s new vehicles had the audience laughing, cheering and even gasping.

At the 2011 LA Auto Show, the Fiat brand debuted the“Seductive” ad with Menghia, which after the show went viral and reached more than 11 million hits in days after being posted on YouTube. Following the popularity, the brand decided to use it as an ad for the 2012 Super Bowl.

The videos shown during this year's 2012 LA Auto Show are expected to be broadcast closer to the vehicles’ debuts, according to Chrysler officials.

The Abarth Cabrio is expected to arrive in dealerships the first-quarter of 2013, followed by the 500e in California during the second quarter and the 500L and 500 L Trekking mid-next year.
