DETROIT, MI - Tesla's Model X electric crossover vehicles is set to roll off assembly lines in Fremont, California, on Sept. 29, and some customers will reportedly be on site to get the keys to their new ride.
The Model X, a falcon-winged vehicle that was on display as a concept at the 2013 Detroit auto show but hasn't been seen there since, is supposed to be introduced as a production vehicle during the current quarter.
Tesla is banking on sales of the Model X to help the California electric vehicle maker reach a goal of delivering a total of 55,000 units (including all models) this year. The company delivered 11,507 Model S cars in the second quarter of this year. In the first half, it delivered a total of 21,552 units.
According to Green Car Reports, the Model X will get up to a 250-mile all-electric range. It will cost about $5,000 more than a comparably equipped Model S sedan.
