The numbers are in.

DETROIT, MI - As it revealed the all-new, sixth-generation Chevrolet Camaro in Detroit, General Motors has repeatedly said it is faster and lighter than its predecessor.

The numbers are in. The 2016 Chevy Camaro will weigh up to 390 pounds lighter than its predecessor.

The Camaro SS coupe, the brawniest of three trim levels, will go 0-60 miles per hour in 4.0 seconds with an automatic transmission, and in 4.3 seconds with a manual stick shift.

It does the quarter-mile in 12.3 seconds and 12.5 seconds with the automatic and manual transmissions, respectively. The SS has a 6.2-liter V-8 engine that gets 455 horsepower.

For the first time in about three decades, a four-cylinder Camaro LT will be offered, with a 2.0L turbo engine that gets 275 horsepower. That base-level pony car will go 0-60 mph in 5.5 seconds with an automatic, and in 5.4 seconds with a manual. The four-banger will do the quarter-mile in 14 seconds.

Thirdly, the Camaro RS with a 3.6L V-6, which will get an estimated 335 horsepower, will go 0-60 in 5.1 seconds with an automatic, and in 5.2 seconds with a manual. It will do the quarter-mile in about 13.6 seconds.

All trim levels' automatic transmission is an eight-speed with paddle shifters.

"The performance of the Camaro 2.0L Turbo will challenge many of the iconic muscle cars from the 1960s, while the Camaro SS's performance - including 0.97 g cornering - makes it one of the most capable 2+2 coupes on the market," Al Oppenheiser, Camaro chief engineer, said in a release. "The performance numbers only tell half of the story, because the lighter curb weight also makes the new Camaro feel more responsive and agile behind the wheel. It brakes more powerfully, dives into corners quicker, accelerates faster and is more fun to drive than ever."

The all-new Camaro was unveiled May 16 in Detroit. It goes on sale in the fourth quarter of this year, with a price of $26,695 for the LT, on up to $37,295 for the SS.
