Production of the Equinox will stay at GM's Oshawa Assembly plant to at least 2017.
DETROIT, MI - GM Canada announced Wednesday it will invest C$12 million, or about $9.2 million, in its Ontario-based production operations to meet high demand in North America for the Chevrolet Equinox.
That also means production of the Equinox will stay at GM's Oshawa Assembly plant to at least 2017.
Through the first sixth months of 2015, sales of the Chevy Equinox in the U.S. were up 15 percent.
GM's Oshawa site currently produces the Chevrolet Equinox as well as the Buick Regal, the Chevrolet Impala, the Chevrolet Camaro and the Cadillac XTS.
Production of the Camaro will end at that plant in November. The new, sixth-generation Camaro will be built at GM's Lansing Grand River Assembly in Michigan.
