DETROIT, MI - FCA US has unveiled the SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo, a single-seat concept car that is equipped with a mid-engine V-10 that gets up to 2,590 horsepower.

Crazy, right? Yes, and that's why the SRT Tomahawk will not be on real roads any time soon. It was made for the virtual roads of the Gran Tursimo 6 video game on the Sony Playstation 3.

It is the latest collaboration between video game design studios and automakers to showcase special concept vehicles on Gran Turismo games. The SRT Tomahawk will be available on GT6 this summer.

The SRT Tomahawk is considered a 2035 model-year vehicle. It is the result of an internal design competition at FCA, and is based on a high-performance-Dodge, FCA US said.

"It doesn't take much to bring out the competitive spirit of the FCA US design team," Ralph Gilles, head of design at Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, said in a release. "We have plenty of Gran Turismo fans in the room and every one of them has the same goal - win the race. Everything we've done with the SRT Tomahawk Vision Gran Turismo aims for that goal."

The winning design was by Paul Hoste, a young designer who grew up playing the Gran Turismo video games, FCA said. Hoste worked with SRT engineers in coming up with the idea for the vehicle.

More info on the car and some of the specs FCA et al dreamed up are here.
