DETROIT, MI - Ford Motor Co. unveiled a high-performance, all-wheel-drive Focus RS hatchback Tuesday in Cologne, Germany, where Ford's RS performance label was first born with the Ford 15M RS in 1968.
The all-new Focus RS debuts the company's Ford Performance All-Wheel Drive with Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control system. It will come equipped with 315-plus-horsepower, 2.3-liter EcoBoost engine.
The Focus RS is one of 12 new performance vehicles the Dearborn automaker plans to unveil through 2020.
At the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit last month, Ford revealed a GT supercar, an all-new F-150 Raptor, a Shelby Mustang GT350 R, a Focus ST and Fiesta ST.
Last month, Ford released a 49-second teaser video of the 4-door hatchback sporting camouflage on its nose:
"The all-new Focus RS is a serious machine with high-performance technology and innovative engineering that sets a new benchmark for driving exhilaration on the road and track," Raj Nair, Ford's group vice president of global product development, said in a release. "The RS line has a proud history of technical breakthroughs that have migrated to mainstream Ford vehicles to benefit all of our customers, and the new Focus RS is no exception. It's a great example of our passion for innovation through performance, and creating vehicles that make people's hearts pound."
