DETROIT, MI - Ticketed attendance for the 2015 North American International Auto Show in Detroit topped 808,775, an increase over 803,451 tickets sold in 2014.

The figures include tickets sold for the public show as well as the gala Charity Preview and Industry Preview.

Now in its 27th year as an international event, the Detroit auto show opened to the public on Jan. 17 and ran through Sunday. That followed a press preview on Jan. 12 and 13, when 55 vehicles were revealed to 5,025 journalists representing 60 countries.

During the public portion of the show, more than 750 vehicles were on display in downtown Detroit's Cobo Center. Tickets to the 2015 public show days were $7 for senior citizens and children between 7-12 years old; $13 for adults; and free for children 6 and under.

The 2015 installment carried with it an air of confidence, coming just days after automakers reported sales of new vehicles in the U.S. last year grew by 6 percent to 16,522,000 units, according to AutoData Corp.

"For two weeks, we've seen the confidence and felt the commitment that auto manufacturers have placed in our show, and in our city," NAIAS Chairman Scott LaRiche said. "They unveiled unbelievable products in dramatic fashion; they built beautiful new, interactive displays; and dozens of amazing digital screens created a sensory extravaganza. And for the last eight days, during the public show, people have smiled from ear-to-ear from the moment they arrived. Now that's confidence."
