DETROIT, MI – Workers were busily opening boxes, hammering nails and screwing in light bulbs Thursday as part of preparations for one of the world's largest, international auto shows - now just a mere three days from getting underway.

Some 5,000 journalists from 60 countries will descend on the Cobo Center in Detroit Monday for a press preview of the 2015 North American International Auto Show, and an estimated 800,000 attendees are expected pass through the facility during its Jan. 12-25 run.

Before all that happens, a small group of reporters followed Detroit Mayor Mike Duggan and others through the show grounds to survey the work. Toyota Motor Co. Curt McAllister told the mayor it was the auto company's largest presence ever at NAIAS, now in its 27th year as an international event.

Of course, domestic automakers Ford Motor Co. and General Motors Co. have massive sections of the center's halls dedicated to their vehicles, as does FCA US, which had a particularly large area set aside for RAM Trucks, throwing fuel on speculation of a new Ram 1500 being unveiled.

Check out the photos above and see how the Cobo Center is shaping up for the latest installment NAIAS.
