AUBURN HILLS, MI- Chrysler Group LLC’s first all-electric vehicle will debut this weekend at the American Music Awards.
The Fiat 500e, which will make its public debut at the LA Auto Show later this month, will premiere on the "green carpet" of the award’s show Sunday, which starts at 8 p.m. on ABC.
“The all-new battery-electric Fiat 500e brings Italian flavor to the electric vehicle market with a unique combination of iconic 500 design, performance and range,” according to the Auburn Hills-based automaker, which released the first photos of the vehicle Friday.
Pricing, range, performance and other details for the zero-emissions vehicle, which will be available in California in 2013, were not released.
Chrysler has not released any plans yet for releasing the vehicle in other markets.
This is the second year Chrysler’s Fiat brand has made an appearance at the American Music Awards. Last year, Jennifer Lopez performed her song “Papi” on stage with a Fiat 500. The vehicle was also featured in the music video for the song and numerous commercials with Lopez.
At least eight vehicle debuts are expected from the Detroit Three, including Fiat SpA, which has majority control of Chrysler.
The LA Auto Show is open to the public from Nov. 30 through Dec. 19. More than 40 vehicles, including at least 17 worldwide unveilings, are expected to debut during the show’s press preview days from Nov. 28-29.
