Chevy: Spark EV, advanced infotainment system to debut at LA Auto Show

DETROIT, MI- Chevrolet is planning some high-tech debuts – from electrified vehicles to upgraded infotainment systems – for the LA Auto Show.

General Motors Co.’s largest brand will unveil the Spark EV, which will be launching next year, and the expanded functionality of an advanced version of its MyLink system, which will be available first in the all-new 2014 Impala full-size sedan.

“The Spark EV and next-generation of MyLink demonstrate Chevrolet’s commitment to delivering the advanced technologies that today’s consumers will be eager to adopt and truly value,” said Chris Perry, vice president of global Chevrolet marketing.

The new all-electric mini car is one of 13 new or significantly redesigned products that Chevrolet will be launching in 2013. Others include the Corvette, Traverse and Equinox crossover sport utility vehicles, Sonic RS subcompact, Impala full-size sedan, Cruze diesel, all-electric Spark and SS rear-wheel drive performance sedan, along with most of its lineup of trucks and SUVs.

According to Chevy, the new MyLink system adds new levels of "personalization and more seamless smartphone integration."

“Chevrolet continues to build on the momentum of eight consecutive quarters of record global sales with the introduction of more new products, features and technologies that are designed to offer consumers exceptional functionality, comfort and convenience,” Perry said.

In addition to the Spark EV, other Chevrolet vehicles on display at the LA Auto Show include the Impala, Malibu Turbo mid-size sedan, Sonic RS small car, Traverse full-size crossover and Camaro Hot Wheels edition.

At least eight vehicle debuts are expected from the Detroit Three, including Fiat SpA, which has majority control of Chrysler.

The LA Auto Show is open to the public from Nov. 30 through Dec. 19. More than 40 vehicles, including at least 17 worldwide unveilings, are expected to debut during the show’s press preview days from Nov. 28-29.
