DETROIT, MI - Dealerships officially began placing orders for the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat on Tuesday, so we've decided to revisit the vehicle and its ridiculous muscle.

The Hellcat's brawn comes from a 6.2-liter (read: huge), supercharged Hemi engine. It is Dodge's first supercharged Hemi engine, and it produces 707 horsepower and 650 lb-ft. of torque.

With a price tag of $59,995, not including shipping and fees, the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is aimed at going toe-to-toe with traditional high-performance competitors, such as the 2014 Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 ($55,950 with 580-hp 6.2-liter V8) and the outgoing Ford Mustang GT500 (662-horsepower and 631 lb.-ft. of torque for roughly $55,000).

In brief, the 2015 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat is the strongest Dodge ever, brand president and CEO Tim Kuniskis notes in the video below.

"It wasn't that long a go that 10-second-quarter-mile car was a full-on race car, not an every day, daily driver," Kuniskis said.

You can see the Hellcat burn through a 10.8-second quarter mile in the video. The car is expected at dealerships this month. The 2015 Dodge Challenger and Challenger SRTs are built at Chrysler's Brampton, Ontario, Assembly Plant.
