jean jenningsJean Jennings was fired as the editor-in-chief at Automobile Magazine as the publication announced it will no longer operate in its Ann Arbor location.

Automobile magazine will close its Pittsfield Township office and fired much of its staff, including editor-in-chief Jean Jennings, according to a report by jalopnik.com.

According to the report, Jennings told Jalopnik that she was surprised by the timing of the announcement but not entirely surprised that it did happen.

Rumors had been swirling about Automobile's parent company Source Interlink Media and their intentions to shutter other publications and move Automobile to Los Angeles, Jennings told Jalopnik.

Jalopnik reported that Automobile will close its Ann Arbor offices and move a few people – including deputy editor Joe DeMatio – to an office in Royal Oak.

"I love this magazine so much and I really felt that it was in good hands with Joe, and if they had made him editor I wouldn't have had a problem at all other than the people they let go," Jennings told Jalopnik.

Automobile Magazine had been located at 120 E. Liberty St. for nearly 27 years before moving to Pittsfield Township in late-June 2011.

Lewis/Klein Properties owns the building they moved to at 1995 Highland Drive, and Neal Warling of Jones Lang LaSalle manages the leasing of the property. Pittsfield Township records show the property has a 2014 assessed value of $2,758,900.

Business Reporter Lizzy Alfs contributed to this report.
