Massive technology, auto expo offering free passes to Michigan residents

Telematics Update recently announced free registration to Michiganders for its annual Telematics Detroit Conference & Exhibition June 4 and 5 at Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. Michigan residents who pre-register at telematicsexpo.com can attend the conference from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on either day.

DETROIT, MI- A massive annual telematics expo is opening its doors free of charge to Michigan residents.

Telematics Update, a United Kingdom-based group, recently announced free registration to Michiganders for its annual Telematics Detroit Conference & Exhibition June 4 and 5 at Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi. Michigan residents who pre-register at telematicsexpo.com can attend the conference from 2 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. on either day.

"Detroit is the heart of the automotive telematics community," said Telematics Update Marketing Manager Charlotte Wright in an email to MLive. "Telematics Detroit 2014 Exhibition is the best opportunity to see the latest telematics technology and understand how connectivity is set to transform the local auto industry in Michigan."

The free passes will get Michigan residents into the exhibition space featuring more than 100 companies showcasing their most innovative technologies, with focus on the integration of new communication technologies into automobiles. The complimentary passes will not get attendees into the more than 50 sessions and panels.

More than 2,000 telematics officials and executives are expected to attend the telematics and connected car exhibition, which is now in its 14th year. Nearly 2,000 executives attended the conference in 2013, according to event organizers.

Speakers and panelists at this year's conference include Phil Abram, General Motors Co. Chief Information Officer; Don Butler, Ford Motor Co. connected vehicle and services executive director;Henry Bzeih, Kia CTO and head of connected car; Johann Jungwirth, Mercedes-Benz research & development president & CEO; Dan Teeter, Nissan director of vehicle connected services; any many more.

Full admission to Telematics Detroit 2014 ranges from roughly $1,200 to $3,900. Registration remains open at telematicsupdate.com/Detroit.

Telematics Update holds events in North America, Europe & Asia that attract thousands of executives and officials from the automotive and technology industries.

Telematics encompasses telecommunications, vehicular technologies, road transportation, road safety, electrical engineering and computer science.
