DEARBORN, MI -- There was an explosion at Severstal Dearborn this morning after a power outage shut down the Ford River Rouge Complex, according to a news release from the steel manufacturer.

The sprawling Dearborn auto manufacturing complex lost power from 6:10 p.m. to 11:03 p.m. Thursday night, according to the release.

There were no injures reported in the incident.

"Severstal Dearborn steel plant experienced an explosion in its cold air pipe connected to the blast furnace stoves," the company reported... The explosion may or may not be related to last night's power outage."

The outage was caused by "an accident at the power provider, DTE Energy," according to the Severstal release.

"The power loss caused some amount of steel to spill, which resulted in a small fire that was quickly put out. While we are working on the restoration of the cold air pipe, we will continue to operate our finishing facilities and service our customers from the existing inventory."
