DETROIT, MI- The Society of Automotive Engineers has compiled a diverse lineup of keynote speakers for its World Congress this week in Detroit.
The annual three-day conference begins Tuesday with Michigan Gov. Rick Snyder and Kevin Vincent, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration chief counsel and ends Thursday with separate keynotes from Myles Kovacs, DUB Magazine president and co-founder, and Woong-Chul Yang, Hyundai Motor Group vice chairman.
“It’s going to be one of the richest spots for your news stories coming up over the next, sure, two or three months,” said David L. Schutt, SAE International CEO, told reporters during an Automotive Press Association meeting last month in Detroit. “This year is going to be as special as ever.”
This year’s conference theme is “creating new possibilities,” which Schutt said underscores the fact that the industry isn’t just here to handle the day-to-day activities but to address the possibilities of the “fascinating future” of the auto industry.
Schutt said other key discussions are expected to focus on bringing young professionals to the automotive industry, connected cars, fuel economy and other hot topics of the automotive industry.
More than 10,000 engineers from around the world annually attend the event, which is expected to have over 170 exhibitors at Cobo Center.
Other keynote speakers include Nigel Francis, Automotive Office Michigan Economic Development Corp. senior vice president; and Peter Phleps, BMW Group Institute for Mobility Research senior researcher/futurist.
Onsite registration for the conference ranges from $209 per day for SAE Elite members to $439 per day for non-members.
