While General Motors Co. has sported an old English-D with blue and orange atop the Renaissance Center since the beginning of the season for home games, others have joined in on the fun.

In honor of the Detroit Tigers’ first trip to the World Series since 2006, Detroit Institute of Arts officials Tuesday lit the exterior walls of the museum, 5200 Woodward Ave., with the team’s classic blue and orange.
The lights, officials say, will be lit from dusk until dawn every night through the World Series.

Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan is lighting up the downtown Detroit skyline in its own way 22-story building.
Officials Tuesday took down a multi-story pink light ribbon to install a nine-story old English-D on the west side of the building at 600 E. Lafayette Blvd., which faces Comerica Park.

Officials with One Detroit Center, 500 Woodward Ave., have lit its four pillars with the team’s colors during some games leading up to the start of the World Series.

During the playoffs, GM stepped up its game with its LED screens and tower lights. Besides having the old English-D atop its world headquarters for the Tigers, the Detroit-based automaker added three new graphics for Triple Crown winner Miguel Cabrera and the American League Central Division Champions.
The LED sign, following its brand’s logos, now reads, “Congrats Miguel Cabrera,” “Triple Crown Winner,” and “AL Central Division Champions.”
Cabrera led the league in the batting average, runs batted in and home runs, the first player from either league to do so in 45 years. He hit .330 with 44 home runs and 139 RBIs.
The Triple Crown was last accomplished by Hall of Famer Carl Yazstremski in 1967 and only 14 times since 1900.
Who's next?
The Tigers are scheduled to play in San Francisco tonight and tomorrow, followed by three home games at Comerica Park from Saturday-Monday.
That gives plenty of time for others to show their support for the team, which hasn't won the World Series since 1984.
