DETROIT, MI -- Porsche on Monday unveiled its new 911 Targa at the 2014 North American International Auto Show.

The two-seater is meant to echo the design of the original 911 Targa of 1965.

The new model features advanced technologies to help performance and visibility in harsh weather, and a unique convertible roof technology in which the top of the vehicle's rear raises up and tucks in the rooftop neatly.

"This 911 is for all seasons, for all conditions, and we are proud to put the Targa badge on it," said Porsche AG CEO Matthias Mueller.

The 350-horsepower 911 Targa 4 is powered by a 3.4-liter flat engine, while the 4S model has a 3.8-liter flat engine generating 400 horsepower.

The vehicle can go from 0 to 100 kmh (about 62 mph) in 4.4 to 5.2 seconds, depending on some of the equipment options offered.
