Besides its usual custom and tricked-out vehicles, the Chrysler Group LLC service, parts and customer-care brand on Wednesday announced its largest exhibit to date at Cobo Center, a 5,500-square-foot display featuring a new Mopar custom shop.

AUBURN HILLS, MI- Mopar has big things planned for the 2014 North American International Auto Show in Detroit.

Besides its usual custom and tricked-out cars and trucks, the Chrysler Group LLC service, parts and customer-care brand on Wednesday announced its largest exhibit to date at Cobo Center, a 5,500-square-foot display featuring a new Mopar custom shop.

The shop, part of its “Mopar Garage,” will allow Detroit auto show attendees to use pre-programmed iPad tablets to experiment with what their favorite Chrysler vehicle may look like with Mopar parts and accessories.

“This is a great addition to the Mopar Garage, which we introduced last year as a display to give consumers a look at how to customize their current vehicles with an incredible selection of aftermarket quality Mopar parts and accessories,” said Mopar President and CEO Pietro Gorlier in a statement.

Mopar’s catalogue of parts and accessories has been growing rapidly and is adding nearly 1,500 new items annually. On average, Mopar – a combination of motor and parts – is Chrysler’s service, parts and customer-says it offers more than 100 different parts or accessories for each new Chrysler car and truck.

As for the vehicles inside the display, Mopar will feature examples of Mopar-customized vehicles including the Mopar ’14 Dodge Challenger, SRT Viper, Fiat 500L Thalassa, Jeep Wrangler Recon, Jeep Cherokee Trail Carver and Ram 3500 Dually CASE Work Truck.

Many of the vehicles were featured at the 2013 Specialty Equipment Market Association Show and are making their way to Detroit for the first time.

The Detroit auto show will be open to the public from Jan. 18-26 at Cobo Center, following Press Preview Jan. 13-14; Industry Preview Jan. 15-16; and the Charity Preview Jan. 17.

Automakers are expected to unveil more than 50 vehicles during the two-day Press Preview to start the 2014 NAIAS.

Tickets to the 2014 public show days are $7 for senior citizens and children between 7-12 years old; $13 for adults; and free for children 6 and under.
