Honda will unveil a new design for its 2015 Fit subcompact model car at the 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), the Japanese car maker announced Thursday.
DETROIT, MI - Honda will unveil a new design for its 2015 Fit subcompact model car at the 2014 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS), the Japanese car maker announced Thursday.
Honda says the new Fit will have “spirited new styling” and “more spacious and refined interior packed with leading-edge connected car technologies.”
It is the third generation Fit for Honda, which began selling the model abroad in 2001 and gave the car its first stateside appearance at the NAIAS in 2006. The Fit has been named a Car and Driver “10-Best” car every year since its introduction in the U.S. It is one of Honda’s best-selling cars, with 4.87 million units sold globally.
The 2015 Honda Fit will be produced for the North American market at a plant in Celaya, Mexico.
Also on Thursday, Honda’s luxury brand Acura announced it would debut a 2015 Acura TLX Prototype performance luxury sedan.
Some 50 new cars are expected to be unveiled at the 2014 NAIAS, now in its 25th year as an international event. The NAIAS opens to the public at the Cobo Center from Jan. 18-26. The Press Preview is Jan. 13-14, Industry Preview is Jan. 15-16 and the Charity Preview is Jan. 17.
Tickets to the 2014 public show days are $7 for senior citizens and children between 7-12 years old; $13 for adults; and free for children 6 and under. There are also more than 40 media events for the roughly 5,000 journalists expected to attend.
