Fusion, F-Series drive Ford sales up 7% in November

The Dearborn-based automaker said it sold 190,449 vehicles last month, compared to nearly 172,000 in November 2012. Retail sales were up 9 percent, for the Ford's best November performance since 2004.

DEARBORN, MI- Led by its Ford Fusion and F-Series, Ford Motor Co. today reported a 7 percent increase in November sales compared to 2012.

The Dearborn-based automaker said it sold 190,449 vehicles last month, compared to nearly 172,000 in November 2012. Retail sales were up 9 percent, for the Ford's best November performance since 2004.

“We continued to see sales increases across our full family of vehicles – particularly with our passenger cars and utilities in conquest coastal markets – helping us post our best November retail sales performance since 2004,” said John Felice, Ford vice president, U.S. marketing, sales and service, in a statement. “Fusion and Fiesta were particular standouts, setting November records, and Ford trucks maintained their strong selling pace.”

Ford reports Fusion sales were up 51 percent to 22,839 vehicles for the month --marking its best-ever November sales performance; Fiesta sales were up 26 percent; and F-Series continued its pace of selling more than 60,000 trucks for the seventh straight month.

Ford's overall sales through November are up 12 percent to more than 2.2 million cars and trucks sold. Its Ford brand is up 12.3 percent and its luxury Lincoln brand, which recorded a 17.4 percent year-over-year increase in November, is down 1.4 percent.

Ford is the second Detroit automaker to release November sales. Earlier today, Chrysler Group LLC reported a 16 percent increase in sales compared to 2012 -- marking 44-consecutive months of year-over-year sales gains. General Motors Co. and non-domestic automakers are expected to release November sales results later today.

2. Lincoln MKZ- 113.8% (2,854)

3, Ford Fusion- 51% (22,839)

4. Ford Flex- 28.9% (2,125)

5. Heavy trucks- 28.1% (744)

On lucrative Black Friday deals and 2013 model-year sell downs, analysts predict overall industry sales to be pretty healthy in November. On the low end, Kelley Blue Book predicts sales to come in at 3.6 percent year-over-year to a total of nearly 1.19 million units. As the other end of the spectrum, TrueCar.com predicts industry sales to increase 6.3 percent to 1.21 million cars and trucks sold.
