DEARBORN, MI- Ford Motor Co. is reportedly protecting its iconic logo from being used by supporters for Toronto Mayor Rob Ford.

Following a report from the National Post about the Ford’s blue oval logo being used on T-shirts that read “Ford Nation” to support the mayor, Bloomberg News reports that the Dearborn-based automaker has asked officials to stop using the “unauthorized” use of the logo.

The shirts come as the Toronto said he bought illegal drugs while in office, used crack cocaine and has been drunk in public.

A Ford spokesman could not be immediately reached for comment on the issue, which comes about a year and a half after the automaker reclaimed control ofits logo.

Ford never has to cease using the logo, but posted it as well as some factories up for collateral in 2006 in order to get a $23.5 billion loan and avoid bankruptcy. It remained the logo and factories in May 2012, following Moody's Investors Service raised Ford's debt ratings to investment-grade for the first time in seven years.
